Furniture and other Items

Aesthetic Movement table in walnut In the manner of E.W. Godwin
Liberty & Co (original label to underside of top)
Circa 1890

E.W. Godwin was employed by Liberty just before his death in 1886 mainly as an advisor in the costume department. Godwin’s innovating designs for furniture have made him renowned in modern design terms and are sought by institutions and collectors alike. It has yet to be proved that Godwin designed furniture specifically for Liberty but his influence is without doubt.
